What is OWWA?

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA is the lead government agency tasked to protect and promote the welfare and well-being of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their dependents. It works closely with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

A total of 1,087,657 overseas workers were covered with welfare protection in 2007, and of which, ten percent (10%) or 105,738 were enrolled from overseas renewal and voluntary membership. The total contribution amounted to PhP1,390,532,365.03.

What are OWWA’s Programs?

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: A total of 116,243 OFWs and their dependents gained skills and were recipient of scholarship grants leading to the completion of a vocational course or a college degree. PhP 58,391,971.45 was released for this purpose.

REPATRIATION PROGRAM: There were 8,607 OFWs repatriated through the assistance of OWWA. The agency released a total of PhP 23,528,909.24.

WORKER ASSISTANCE: 248,054 OFWs were provided immediate assistance locally and overseas.

REINTEGRATION PROGRAM: This year OWWA is assisted a total of 2,262 organizations with a membership of 45,607 as part of the reintegration efforts of the agency.

How Do I Become A Member?
The OWWA is a membership institution. As such, its programs, projects and services are geared towards safeguarding and promoting the welfare and interests of its members.
For a US$25.00 membership contribution, an OWWA member is entitled to various benefits and services. Membership in OWWA may be obtained in two ways:

1. By enrollment upon processing of contract at the POEA; and
2. By voluntary registration of a would-be member at job sites overseas.

PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP
The names of all OWWA members are maintained by the OWWA and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in a database which is updated regularly. Members are issued an Official Receipt upon payment of contribution. They shall likewise be issued an OWWA e-Card.

EFFECTIVITY OF MEMBERSHIP
OWWA membership, either through the compulsory or voluntary coverages, shall be effective upon payment of membership contribution, until expiration of the employment contract. In case of voluntary members who register on-site, membership shall not exceed two (2) years.

RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be renewed upon payment of contribution on contract renewal / issuance of new contract. In the case of voluntary membership, coverage shall be renewed upon payment of contribution.

    paano po makakakuha ng e-card? nawala na po kasi yung OR ko eh… nasa saudi po ako ngayon… tapos nag close na yung agency na inalisan ko, help naman po….

    I am currently working in Australia, I want to become an OWWA member can you tell me the process and where will I submit my application? or can I apply online? and pay online? I am here in Melbourne Vic Australia, do you have OWWA office on this area?

    Gud day, mrs. po ako ng OFW at member ng OWWA ang mr. ko. paano po magagamit ng anak ko ang scholarship for this coming school year? His 4th year high school now, this march his graduation. Ano po ba ang mga requirements para makapasok for scholar ang son ko.
